The Asylum

In 1861 Doctor James C. Hawthorne opened the first treatment center for “asylum medicine” in the Pacific Northwest. Twenty-two years later the Hawthorne Asylum closed after the state opened their own facility in Salem and five years later the building burned down.

In it’s place today the Hawthorne Asylum food cart pod offers a variety of culinary choices with covered eating areas (with space heaters for those colder months). Stop in and grab a bite to eat and something to drink.
