Ascent From Fremont (PDX Stairs)
There are over 140 staircases in the Portland area designed to provided faster pedestrian travel between neighborhoods, to shopping and restaurants, and simply just traversing the hilly terrain.
If you normally drive down this section of Fremont, you may not even know that this stairway exists. Even walking by it was almost missed when placing this door! Climbing these 65 stairs will get you to the Alameda neighborhood with Dutch colonial, mid-century modern, and craftsman and colonial style homes.
Know Before You Go
- Parking on the Fremont side will be challenging, either park on 32nd or 31st avenue or park at the top of the stairs on Alameda.
- The door is located halfway up the stairway
